Coheed and Cambria have returned with a new standalone single, “The Joke,” which arrives along with the B-side, “Deranged.”

“The Joke” is a non-album track from the sessions for 2022’s Vaxis – Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind, while “Deranged” is a remixed and remastered version of the song that originally came out as part of 2011’s Batman: Arkham City soundtrack.

Singer/guitarist Claudio Sanchez says, “The meaning behind ‘The Joke’ is basically, if you need a punching bag, I’ll be that guy.”

The song comes with a video that features Al The Killer from Coheed’s The Armory Wars universe “being bullied by a nefarious prankster.”

“The Joke” is streaming now through Evil Ink/Virgin Music and is also being pressed up on seven-inch vinyl.
